Quick and painless tooth removal in Lichfield

A tooth extraction can relieve pain quickly when a tooth is too damaged or infected to save. In these circumstances, it's often the most straightforward route to getting your mouth healthy again. In some cases, removal is also a necessary step before orthodontic treatment.

We carry out tooth extractions under local anaesthetic so you won't feel pain during the procedure, and we'll give you written aftercare instructions before you leave.

When is a tooth extraction necessary?

We’ll always do everything we can to preserve or repair a tooth before recommending an extraction. The most common causes that lead to a tooth extraction are:

  • Tooth decay or infection that can’t be solved with a filling or root canal
  • A tooth has been badly damaged from trauma
  • A wisdom tooth is causing pain or is partially trapped beneath your gum
  • Prior to orthodontic treatment when there is not enough space in your jaw
  • A tooth has been badly affected by gum disease

If you're in pain or you've been advised to have a tooth removed but you're not sure why, you can contact us to talk it through before you decide.

How much does tooth removal cost?

The cost of a tooth extraction depends on the complexity of the procedure. A straightforward extraction is priced differently from a surgical procedure or an impacted wisdom tooth. Before we begin your extraction, we’ll talk you through the costs and provide you with a clear, itemised quote.

How does tooth extraction work at Beacon Park Dental?

Your consultation

We'll assess the tooth, explain what the procedure involves, and give you a clear price. You'll have time to ask questions and there's no pressure to go ahead on the day.

Your appointment

We'll confirm the plan with you again before we start, making sure there is plenty of time to answer your questions. We’ll then carry out the extraction under local anaesthetic.

Recovery and next steps

We'll give you written aftercare guidance before you leave, covering what to eat, how to keep the area clean, and what to watch out for. If you have any questions afterwards, you can always get in touch.

Do I need to have my tooth removed?

If you're in pain, have a tooth that feels loose, or you've noticed swelling around a tooth, it's worth getting it checked. Your tooth may need to come out if it's too damaged or infected to be saved, but we'll always look at whether there are other options first, such as a filling or a root canal.

Wisdom teeth are the most common reason for an extraction. They sometimes don't have room to come through properly, which can cause pain, swelling, or infection. If yours are causing problems, we can advise on whether wisdom tooth removal is the right course of action.

Types of tooth extraction at Beacon Park Dental

Emergency extractions

We keep appointment slots free throughout the week for urgent dental problems. If you're in pain and need to be seen quickly, call us and we'll do our best to get you in the same day.

Wisdom tooth removal

Wisdom teeth that are causing pain, infection, or crowding can often be removed under local anaesthetic. We'll take X-rays first so we understand the position of the tooth before we start.

Impacted tooth removal

When a tooth is partially or fully trapped beneath the gumline, removing it involves a small surgical procedure. We'll explain what this involves and make sure you're comfortable throughout.

Broken or damaged tooth removal

For teeth that have broken at the gumline or are more complex to remove, we carry out extractions carefully to relieve pain and protect the surrounding tissue.
